A two-day celebration marking the 25th anniversary of the Cultural and Artistic Society (KUD) "Šamac" officially began with a vibrant parade of traditional Serbian folk costumes. The event took place at the Town Square in Šamac and continued in the "Stari sat" Gallery, featuring members of cultural societies from both Serbia and Republika Srpska.
Mladen Radović, president of KUD "Šamac", stated that this quarter-century milestone is a source of pride for all members and generations who have been part of the society over the years.
"Over the past 25 years, we've held more than 400 performances and presented over 650 cultural programs, traveling to numerous cities across Europe and Asia," said Radović.
The two-day celebration includes the promotion of traditional cuisine, folk costumes, and themed lectures.
A concert is scheduled for the second day, where participants will showcase their talents and the richness of Serbian folklore.
"Our goal is to preserve the tradition and culture of the Serbian people in the Posavina region," Radović emphasized, adding that members of the Women’s Association “Šamac” have prepared a variety of traditional dishes for the occasion.
He also noted that KUD "Šamac" has earned recognition as a cultural ambassador of Serbian heritage through numerous awards and performances abroad.
The anniversary concert will feature performances by SKUD “Semberija” from Bijeljina, GKUD “Doboj,” KUD “Branislav Nušić” from Vladičin Han, KUD “Šamac,” and children from the citizens’ association for developmental disabilities “Djeca sunca” (Children of the Sun) from Šamac.
