FOČA MOUNTAINS: AN OASIS OF BEAUTY, DIVERSITY, AND ATTRACTION

Within the municipality's territory, there are five peaks rising over 2000 meters above sea level, while dozens more are scattered along the border zone with Montenegro and the municipality of Gacko, representing a unique natural wealth.

The beauty, diversity of flora and fauna, attractiveness, and geographical location are characteristics that make the Foča mountains special and attractive, leaving everyone who visits them breathless. There are numerous mountain lakes and rivers whose beauty is enjoyed by tourists from all over the world.

Foča's unique natural beauty in Bosnia and Herzegovina, characterized by the surrounding mountain ranges, is recognized by the local Mountaineering Society "Zelengora."

They also emphasize that peaks below 2000 meters above sea level are equally attractive and interesting, highlighting Pliješ and the plateau above the Tara River canyon.

The president of the Mountaineering Society "Zelengora" Foča, Srđan Kulić, emphasizes the beauty of Zelengora as a mountain accessible to everyone.

"It's easy to walk, suitable for recreationists, hikers, and children, accessible to anyone not actively engaged in mountaineering," says Kulić.

Mountains are sources of food, oxygen, water, guardians of ecosystems, and important factors in human survival and health, note Foča mountaineers. Recently, they add, many young people are turning to nature and hiking, wanting to explore the beauties of Foča and discover a healthy way of life.
