Preparations for the 59th "Kočić's Assembly" are in full swing, scheduled to take place on August 23, 24, and 25 in Banja Luka and Stričići. As in previous years, the program will consist of three days – the Day of Truth, the Day of Freedom, and the Day of Homeland.
The advisor to the mayor, Mirna Savić – Banjac, emphasized that the goal this year, as in previous years, is to organize high-quality activities to revive Kočić's character and work. A novelty this year is that the "Kočić's Assembly" will be held at a new location – on municipal land, just a few meters from the previous one.
Mayor Draško Stanivuković explained that previously the city rented private land, which sometimes caused problems due to high prices and conditions set by the owners. Now, since the city owns land nearby, it has been decided to move the event to a permanent location that the city will continuously enrich with various contents.
The new location will enable the construction of a permanent assembly site, which will be accessible to visitors throughout the year. The plan is to build paths, arenas for bullfighting, and other necessary infrastructure to adequately host the "Kočić's Assembly" and be independent of private landowners.
The mayor expressed regret that this permanent solution was not considered earlier, emphasizing that the event is of great importance to the city and the region and deserves a permanent venue.
He concluded by stating that investing in permanent infrastructure is a smart and long-term investment that will reduce annual costs and provide even better conditions for holding the event, which has been running for nearly 60 years.
