The Mimosa Festival, a popular entertainment and tourism event in the region, will be showcased on January 26 in the largest city of the Republic of Srpska.
“Herceg Novi Calls – Celebration, Sun, Sea” is the slogan of the 56th Mimosa Festival. This vibrant and well-loved event, which heralds the arrival of spring, is making its way to Banja Luka. On Sunday, January 26, from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM, a segment of the festival’s program titled “The Celebration Begins” will be presented at Krajina Square, as announced by the tourist organizations of Banja Luka and Herceg Novi.
The festivities will commence with a performance by 35 majorettes parading from Petar Kočić Park through the pedestrian zone, passing Hotel Bosna, the Banski Dvor Cultural Center, and the Christ the Savior Temple, and then through the small park in Gospodska Street towards Krajina Square.
Alongside the majorettes, visitors to the square will be greeted by masqueraders, a performance by the Castel Nuovo klapa, and the renowned costumed trombonists who will ceremonially fire a salvo to mark the start of the event. As in previous years, the highlight of the celebration will be the beautiful mimosa flowers distributed to passersby at the square, along with promotional materials from the Herceg Novi Tourist Organization. The festival is organized by the Herceg Novi Tourist Organization, Cultural Center, and Municipality of Herceg Novi, with the Banja Luka Tourist Organization and City Administration serving as gracious hosts.
The official opening of the Mimosa Festival is scheduled for Friday, February 14, in Herceg Novi. The festivities will begin with a traditional parade featuring majorettes, the City Music ensemble, the Đenović Local Music Band, trombonists, and masqueraders, marching from Škver to Igalo, followed by a concert by Ana Bekuta and Hanka Paldum.
