Once again, the city of Banja Luka will host the regional event "Night of Fortresses," aimed at connecting and promoting programs at fortification sites across Europe.
The "Night of Fortresses" event will take place on
May 10th at the Kastel Fortress.
In addition to providing basic information on their
websites, organizers are expected to present the planned program, whether it
involves exhibitions, lectures, workshops, musical performances, film
screenings, dance performances, theater shows, organized tours, open days, or
similar activities.
It is important to note that participation in the
"Night of Fortresses" event is completely free, and all planned
programs must be free of charge and accessible to all visitors.
The goal of the event, which has previously united 45
fortification sites in six European countries, is to enhance the cultural and
tourist offerings in European cities with established heritage and raise
awareness of the potential and importance of cultural heritage valorization as
a generator of cultural tourism development.
As emphasized by the organizers, the "Night of Fortresses" expands and strengthens cooperation among cities and organizations managing fortified heritage sites.
The event is supported by international associations EFFORTS
(European Federation of Fortified Sites) and FORTE CULTURA, which have included
the "Night of Fortresses" in the European Fortress Summer Event.
The "Night of Fortresses" was first held in 2022
in Croatia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a result of the joint
European project FORTITUDE.
This year, organizers of the event, the Fortress of Culture
of Sibenik, the city of Karlovac, the municipality of Bar, and the city of
Banja Luka, are joined by partners from the city of Trebinje and the municipality
of Ulcinj.
All established sites in Europe and other heritage
institutions can participate in this year's edition of the "Night of
Fortresses" by submitting an application via the online form available on
the website www.nightofortresses.org.
Applications are open and will continue until April 12,
2024.
