BORIK GLOWS WITH GOLDEN SPLENDOR!

This year, the sports center 'Borik' is celebrating its golden jubilee, marking 50 years of existence.

The Banja Luka temple of sports remembers glorious times. Handball players of Borac won the European Championship title here, a packed 'Borik' celebrated the European title of Marijan Beneš and hosted the Women's European Basketball Championship, as well as the World Junior Handball Championship.

There were many more moments of joy and sorrow, and this hall has been and remains a gathering place for the best. The management of SC 'Borik' wants to mark the jubilee in the best way possible.

- We have plans that depend on the budget. 'Borik' is a temple of sport that unites people. It started in 1972 and was completed in 1974, and we want to celebrate 50 years of existence in the most beautiful way. We have already introduced a logo for the jubilee. The idea is that all the clubs that organize something should carry it, and we have a great response. In the second half of the year, a ceremonial academy is planned, to which we will invite everyone who has left a mark, from athletes, but also people from cultural, public, and political life, as well as our former workers and remember all the beautiful things in our 'Borik'. Recently, handball legends Dr. Nebojša Popović, Abaz Arslanagić, Milorad Karalić, whose portraits are on the triumphal arch at the entrance to the hall, announced their arrival. It would be nice to supplement the book that was already there for the 40th birthday. We want to organize events where we will pay tribute to the people who laid the foundation for the hall and spread the glory of Borik, emphasized director Nenad Talić.

The sports center is further upgraded each year and now has four halls.

- Our primary task is to be at the service of sports clubs. We have excellent cooperation and strive to accommodate everyone. According to the feedback, the clubs are satisfied. We have four halls - 'Borik', 'Obilićevo', 'Centar', and 'Starčevica'. There are more and more clubs and requests, and we try to find adequate time slots when 'Borik' is occupied due to events that are on the calendar. Certainly, we need more halls, because fortunately, we have more and more children and clubs training," said the director of the Sports Center.

Every year, 'Borik' strives to add something new. A conference hall was built, and the construction of the most modern gymnasium has begun.

• - The conference hall has been a great success, as it is used daily. Not just for press conferences, but also as a meeting room, for analysis, and agreements. RK Borac held lectures there during their camp. We have started construction of the most modern gymnasium on 540 square meters. When it's finished, clubs will have everything in one place. A large and a small hall, a gym, and a conference hall. We started the project on our own, our workers cleared the space, and now with the city's support, we are moving to procurement and expect to have a tender for equipment this year, announced the director of the Sports Center.

'Borik' organizes numerous events every year, and the crown jewel of all is the indoor soccer tournament.
