The hiking club "Vilenska Vrela" from Kneževo is organizing the ninth traditional Kneževo Transversal on May 26th, starting at 9:00 AM. According to the club, the event will once again be held in the Cvrcka Canyon in memory of the nature enthusiast and hiker, Smiljana Nikodinović.
The circular trail, starting from Hrvaćani and passing
through Muški and Ženski Vir, the Kapnica Cave, Bekića Zelenac, Opaki Vir, and
finally reaching the Vilenska Vrela plateau near Tepići village, attracts more
and more lovers of Cvrcka's turquoise gems each year.
This year, the organizers faced an additional challenge as
the hanging bridge leading to the Vilenska Vrela plateau was recently
destroyed. However, thanks to the volunteer efforts of the club members and the
funds raised, a temporary crossing has been constructed for this weekend’s
event. Their ultimate goal remains to rebuild the hanging bridge, so this
year's event will be more modest, with funds directed towards the bridge
reconstruction.
“Enjoyment in the Cvrcka’s ambiance will not be lacking,”
say the hikers, presenting the event plan.
