TENTH SPRING HIKE ACROSS ROMANIJA PEAKS SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 5

A traditional mountaineering event titled “Vrhovima Romanije – The Tenth Spring Hike on Romanija” will be held on April 5, 2026, organized by the Mountaineering Association of Republika Srpska and the Mountaineering Society Glasinac Sokolac.

The hiking tour will lead participants to Veliki Lupoglav (1,652 meters above sea level), the highest peak of the Romanija Mountain.

Mountaineers from various cities are expected to gather a day earlier, on April 4, when participants arriving from other towns will be welcomed and accommodated in the town of Sokolac.

Event Program

The gathering of participants is scheduled between 08:00 and 09:00 a.m. at Nadromanija (1,365 m), at the Crvene Stijene Mountain Lodge.

The official opening of the hike and welcoming remarks from the hosts will take place from 09:00 to 09:15 a.m.

From 09:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., participants will hike along a 15-kilometer trail leading to Veliki Lupoglav, the highest summit of Romanija.

The return to Nadromanija is planned between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m., after which a shared meal and social gathering will be organized at the mountain lodge.

At 5:00 p.m., certificates of appreciation will be awarded to participants, followed by the official closing of the event.

Participation Requirements

Organizers emphasize that participants should be in excellent health and physical condition. Mandatory equipment includes mountaineering boots (sneakers are not allowed), appropriate hiking clothing depending on weather conditions, spare clothing, rain and sun protection, trekking poles, a backpack, food, water, a mountaineering membership card, a first aid kit, and optionally a camera.

Accommodation and Registration

For hikers traveling from more distant areas, overnight accommodation can be arranged either on Romanija Mountain or in Sokolac, through private lodging or local hospitality facilities.
