Despite the lack of natural snowflakes, over 250,000 skiers have enjoyed this season at the Olympic beauty thanks to artificial snowmaking systems, which consumed over 65,000 liters of oil for snow production at Jahorina.
The mild winter and lack of snow this season posed the biggest challenge for all ski resorts in the country and the region. However, despite this significant problem, it has been possible to ski continuously for over 100 days on the most popular mountain in Republika Srpska.
At the Olympic Center "Jahorina," officials state to "Glas" that this success is the result of investment in infrastructure and artificial snowmaking, without which they could not have provided skiers with a winter experience any day this season.
- While some ski resorts in the surrounding areas, such as those in Montenegro, have not even opened their doors to visitors due to lack of snow, we can proudly say that today we mark the 104th day of continuous skiing, making us leaders in the region despite natural limitations. Also, ski resorts in our immediate neighborhood, such as Bjelašnica, have faced interruptions in operation, officials at the Olympic Center "Jahorina" said.
They claim that the Olympic beauty, by maintaining and providing a top-notch skiing experience, has become synonymous with an exceptional winter experience even in conditions of natural snow scarcity.
