TOURISM IN REPUBLIKA SRPSKA ON THE RISE: MORE VISITORS AND OVERNIGHT STAYS IN FIRST THREE MONTHS

A total of 98,389 tourists visited Republika Srpska in the first three months of this year, which is 4.6 percent more compared to the same period last year, the Tourist Organization of Republika Srpska told Srna.

Tourists recorded 277,895 overnight stays, marking an increase of 8.1 percent.

If we compare the number of overnight stays in the first three months of this year with the same period last year, mountain destinations recorded a 24.4 percent increase, spa resorts grew by 3.4 percent, while other tourist destinations remained at the same level - said Sanela Šimun, public relations associate at the Tourist Organization.

She noted that tourists stayed for an average of three days.

As in previous years, in addition to domestic visitors, the largest number of tourists came from Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Montenegro. Among other European countries, Turkey, Austria, Germany, and Italy stand out.

Šimun added that domestic tourists recorded the highest number of overnight stays in other tourist destinations, followed by spa resorts, mountain destinations, and places that cannot be classified into any of these categories but offer accommodation facilities.

- Foreign tourists recorded the highest number of overnight stays in spa resorts, followed by other tourist destinations and mountain areas - Šimun said.
