Trebinje's iconic summer cinema in the Old Town is set for a long-awaited revival. By the end of this month, the city will launch a public procurement process for renovation works, with construction expected to begin no later than September.
According to the Department of Culture of the City of Trebinje, the works are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. The project includes the restoration of the existing space and the construction of a brand-new summer stage.
“As per the current schedule, the public procurement process for the renovation works will be initiated at the end of April, and the works are expected to start by September at the latest. Completion is planned by year’s end,” officials from the department stated for Trebinje Danas.
The new summer stage will be multifunctional—designed to host literary evenings, music performances, stand-up comedy shows, and other cultural events. Officials note that this upgrade will breathe new life into the space and significantly enrich the city’s cultural scene.
The renovation of this beloved venue is part of the Gifts Net project, implemented by the Trebinje Development Agency (TREDEA) and the Museum of Herzegovina.
The project aims to enhance the region’s cultural and tourism offerings by revitalizing and promoting cultural and historical landmarks. The summer cinema stands as one of the key pillars of this initiative.
