"TARA 2" – NEW PROJECTS FOR A STRONGER TOURISM OFFER

The municipalities on both sides of the Tara River and Mount Maglić—Foča and Plužine—are continuing their cross-border cooperation in developing their tourism capacities as a joint destination through the second phase of the Tourism, Adrenaline, and Rafting Adventure project.

The TARA 2 project is valued at €530,000, with the EU financing 85% of the total cost, while the remaining funds are provided by the two municipalities.

The plan includes the adoption of a joint tourism development strategy by the neighboring municipalities from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. One of the major investments in Plužine will be the construction of an Adventure Park, while in Foča, two bridges on the Ćehotina River and the Clock Tower will receive LED lighting. Additionally, a tourist LED billboard will be installed in the city.

Ivan Doderović, the Executive Director of Piva Nature Park, emphasized that Foča and Plužine are globally recognized as a unique destination for active tourism. He noted that the Adventure Park will further enrich Plužine’s tourism offerings:

"This will be a new tourism product, likely most attractive to younger visitors, but it will also include features for all generations—artificial climbing walls, zip lines, and more," said Doderović.

Once again, the project will include the enhancement of scenic viewpoints, as well as upgrades to essential tourism infrastructure such as information boards and signage. Plans also include the procurement of electric bicycles and the installation of solar-powered benches in remote locations, allowing hikers to recharge their phones.

Mladen Mandić from the Foča Tourist Organization highlighted that this is the third consecutive project in collaboration with Plužine:

"This year, we are focusing on the town itself—two Ćehotina River bridges will be renovated, and a LED screen will be installed near the Southern Bridge of Freedom. In addition, we are launching several promotional activities, installing tourist signage, and developing scenic viewpoints," Mandić explained.

Sonja Cicmil, Secretary for General Administration in the Municipality of Plužine, pointed out that the results of their cooperation with Foča are becoming increasingly visible and that the new project is particularly significant due to the Adventure Park:

"These projects contribute to the development of the tourism offerings of both municipalities. Plužine is becoming a highly attractive tourist destination, and these initiatives have played a major role in that," said Cicmil.

Foča Mayor Milan Vukadinović stated that they are continuing where they left off, emphasizing that this region serves as a key link on the tourist route stretching from Zlatibor to the Adriatic Sea.
