Stari Martinac is the center of attention today with the "Martinac Cooks Cabbage" event, held for the third time at the Community Center in this local municipality of Srbac.
Preparations for this event and its main dish began at dawn, as stated by the head chef, Branislav Kokan.
"The process of layering and preparing the cabbage started around 4 AM so that it would be ready for guests in the afternoon," said Kokan, who was once again in charge of cooking the main dish that was enjoyed by numerous visitors.
The organizers emphasized that the primary goal of this event is socializing, with the intention of making it a traditional gathering. In the coming years, they hope to introduce a competitive segment where cabbage would be cooked in multiple smaller pots, and the best chefs would be recognized.
Despite rising costs, numerous supporters of the event contributed with donations, ensuring that this year’s gathering was filled with delicious Martinac-style cabbage and various types of meat.
With tasty cabbage, free drinks, and live music, the festivities continued late into the evening at the Community Center in Stari Martinac.
