The sixth edition of the “Zmijanje Marathon” will take place on September 21 on Manjača, organized by the athletics club “Alfa Trail.”

SIXTH ZMIJANJE MARATHON TO BE HELD ON MANJAČA

The event, which for six consecutive years has brought together professional athletes, recreational runners, children, and nature lovers, has grown into a recognizable festival of sports, friendship, and family values.

The program will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Stričići, at the “Petar Kočić” Hearth. The opening segment is reserved for performances by children, joined by their parents, teachers, and educators. More than 300 children have registered for this part of the program – the highest number of participants to date, according to organizers.

After the children’s program, the main 21-kilometer race will start, while a special hiking and walking program has been prepared for recreational participants who simply want to enjoy the natural surroundings. Around 50 adult runners are expected to take part this year.

“This year we carefully marked the trails and provided refreshment points and on-site support, so that all participants – whether running or walking – can have a safe and unforgettable experience. Manjača is a mountain still waiting to be fully discovered, and the beauty of its landscapes, its rich flora and fauna, and the hospitality of the locals make this event special,” said Nevena Stojaković, president of “Alfa Trail.”

Alongside the sporting segment, the Green Fest fair of small producers will also be held. Interest has exceeded expectations this year, with 26 exhibitors registering, despite the initial plan for about ten. Visitors will be able to enjoy local products, fruit, vegetables, handicrafts, and other traditional delicacies.

At noon, a communal gathering of all participants – runners, recreational athletes, children, and exhibitors – is scheduled. This will be followed by the awarding of diplomas and prizes, a joint lunch, entertainment, and a music program. The youngest visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in short races ranging from 100 to 500 meters, adjusted to their age.

“What matters most to us is that children experience the joy of sport and, through play, learn to love running and spending time in nature. This way, we are building future runners and creating healthy lifestyle habits from an early age,” Stojaković emphasized.

This year’s “Zmijanje Marathon” is expected to gather a record number of participants and visitors, once again confirming that the event is not only a sporting competition, but also a celebration of community, nature, and local tradition.
