Just a short drive—less than 15 kilometers—south of Banja Luka lies Samar, a stunning rocky viewpoint that offers one of the most spectacular views of the Vrbas River Canyon, as well as the surrounding mountains Srnetica and Klekovača. Known among locals and adventurers alike, Samar has become a highlight of Banja Luka’s growing adrenaline tourism scene.
Perched high above the canyon, this natural lookout point reveals a mesmerizing panorama of the Tijesno Gorge and the rugged mountain landscape that surrounds it. Recently, the spot drew attention thanks to Vladimir Tadić, an award-winning photographer, mountaineer, and adventurer from Čelinac, who captured and shared a breathtaking image from Samar.
“Anyone who has stood on the Samar viewpoint knows how your legs start to tremble…” Tadić wrote in his post on his photography page Svjetlopis.
Tadić’s work celebrates the raw beauty of nature, with a special focus on the mountains and wild landscapes of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His photographs have been exhibited and awarded at art photography exhibitions in over 30 countries across six continents, showcasing not only his exceptional eye for detail but also the untamed allure of the region’s natural wonders.
Samar, with its thrilling heights and awe-inspiring scenery, continues to attract those seeking adventure—and a view they’ll never forget.
