The tourism season on the Drina River will begin on April 5th, with Višegrad continuing to be the central destination for lovers of cruises, nature, and historical landmarks, announced Goran Glišić, owner of the Tara Tours agency, today.
Glišić, who met with Višegrad municipality mayor Mladen Đurević, revealed that the "Grizli" boat will arrive in Višegrad on the first weekend of April, officially marking the start of the cruising season.
He told reporters that he had discussed the upcoming tourism season with Đurević, emphasizing efforts to simplify border procedures so that customs checks will only take place at Perućac, which will significantly shorten travel time and allow tourists to stay longer in Višegrad. This is an important step in the development of local tourism.
Thanks to the growing interest in Drina River cruises, Višegrad is positioning itself as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the region.
Glišić also mentioned that Tara Tours, due to high demand, has expanded its fleet by acquiring another boat with a capacity of 50 passengers. Along with the "Grizli" boat, which can carry 140 guests, this will allow nearly 200 tourists to reach Višegrad by water in a single day.
Branislav Andrić, Director of the Višegrad Tourist Organization, pointed out that in recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in tourists visiting for Drina River cruises.
"This tour, which includes a cruise through the picturesque canyon, a visit to the memorial complex in Stari Brod, and a stay in Višegrad, is one of the most significant tourist products we promote. The Višegrad municipality is continuously working on improving infrastructure and amenities to provide guests with an unforgettable experience," said Andrić.
To further enhance the tourist season, the Višegrad municipality has supported the organization of the "Drina Vibes" festival, which will be held on the "Grizli" boat on July 25th.
"This unique music event will gather two well-known DJs and 100 guests, offering a completely new experience of entertainment on the water. Additionally, this year, another boat docking station will be put into operation, built in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, which will improve access to Višegrad and facilitate the organization of tourist tours," added Andrić.
With new attractions, improved infrastructure, and a growing number of tourists, Višegrad continues to strengthen its position as one of the leading centers of river tourism in the region.
