The traditional hiking event titled “Let’s Walk the Hills of Rzav” was successfully held under the organization of the Mountaineering Sports Society “Stolac” from Višegrad.
According to Bratislav Antić, the president of the society, this year’s event was the largest hiking gathering in Višegrad to date, attracting nearly 300 participants from 21 mountaineering clubs across Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.
The hikers covered a 12-kilometer trail stretching from the village of Dubovik to the peak of “Crvene Stijene” at an elevation of 1,142 meters above sea level. Along the way, participants enjoyed breathtaking landscapes, unspoiled nature, and scenic viewpoints of the Rzav hills.
The event also featured the participation of around 50 young students from the lower grades of “Vuk Karadžić” Elementary School. Accompanied by members of PSD “Stolac,” the children completed the entire planned route, adding a special charm to the event.
Branislav Andrić, acting director of the Višegrad Tourist Organization, emphasized that events like this attract a significant number of nature enthusiasts and serve as an excellent way to promote the natural beauty of the Višegrad municipality. This, he noted, was one of the main reasons the Tourist Organization decided to support the event this year.
The “Let’s Walk the Hills of Rzav” hiking event has been held annually in Višegrad since 2008 and is officially included in the event calendar of the Mountaineering Association of the Republic of Srpska.
