NATURE LOVERS INVITED TO ADVENTURE ALONG “KOČIĆ TRAILS”

The Mountaineering Society Manjača has announced its 19th traditional hiking event, “Kočić Trails 2026,” set to take place on May 24, 2026. The event brings together hiking clubs, outdoor enthusiasts, and all lovers of nature for a day of recreation and exploration on Mount Manjača.

NATURE LOVERS INVITED TO ADVENTURE ALONG “KOČIĆ TRAILS”

This year’s program features a newly designed circular route called “Zdravko’s Trail.” The hike begins at the mountain lodge and leads participants to the Tisovac peak (1,220 meters above sea level), continuing toward the Metla peak before returning to the starting point. The trail is 15 kilometers long, with an elevation gain of 400 meters. Organizers describe it as moderately easy, without dangerous sections, and suitable for hikers of all experience levels, offering scenic views of Manjača’s natural landscape

For those seeking a lighter challenge, a 12-kilometer recreational route is also available, leading from the lodge to the Metla peak and back. Licensed guides will accompany participants on both trails.

EVENT SCHEDULE

Participants will gather between 09:00 and 09:30 at the mountain lodge in Lokvari, where welcome coffee and tea will be served. Organized transport will be available from the old bus station at 07:30 for those who register in advance, at a cost of 15 KM.

The official start of both hikes is scheduled for 09:30. Around noon, hikers on the main route will reach the Tisovac peak, where a break for rest and breakfast is planned. All participants are expected to return to the lodge by 15:30, followed by lunch, certificate awards, and socializing with music. The organizers will provide lunch for all attendees. The event is expected to conclude at 17:00.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

Participants are advised to wear sturdy hiking boots and dress in layers appropriate to weather conditions. Each hiker should carry food for one day, at least 1.5 liters of water, and a backpack with a minimum capacity of 30 liters. Additional recommended items include trekking poles, a membership card, a personal first aid kit, and any necessary medications. Rain gear, sunglasses, gloves, a hat, a camera, and personal identification are also recommended.

The mountain lodge offers accommodation for up to 25 people in three rooms.

All interested mountaineering clubs and individuals can register with SPU Manjača or contact Radmila no later than May 20, 2026.
