25TH SOMOVIJADA: BILEĆKO LAKE BECOMES A CENTER OF SPORT FISHING

The Bilećka "Somovijada" once again brought together sport fishermen from Republika Srpska, Serbia, and Montenegro, who competed for the title of the best catfish catcher on Bilećko Lake.

- This year marks the 25th traditional competition, gathering 37 teams with 120 fishermen. We are extremely satisfied with both the catch and the participants, who we hope will take home fond memories from today’s event. When it comes to sport fishing, Bilećko Lake has become the center of Herzegovina and beyond, said Miodrag Asanović from the Bileća Sport Fishing Society.

The winner of the Somovijada was a team from Bileća, consisting of Saša Vučinić, Aleksandar Inić, and Gojko Papić, with a catch of 14.2 kg. The second place went to Obren Pujić and Goran Ijačić with a catch of 10.3 kg, and the third place to Bogoljub Šešlija with a catch of 8 kg.

The president of the Bileća Sport Fishing Society, Spaso Kapor, welcomed the fishermen to the competition and gathering.

- Thank you to everyone who participated in the traditional Somovijada organized by our society, and special thanks to the sponsors, HE na Trebišnjici, Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske, the Municipality of Bileća, and other sponsors without whom this gathering would not have been possible. Most importantly, the competition went smoothly without any injuries and in a friendly atmosphere, said Kapor.

After the competition, a joint lunch was organized, followed by a rich raffle.
