The roundtable, titled “Opportunities for the Development of Wine Tourism in the Northern Part of Republika Srpska”, brought together representatives of wineries from different parts of the region, with the aim of opening a discussion on cooperation between wineries and tourism organizations and the joint development of wine tourism as a new tourism product.

The event was organized by the Derventa Tourism Organization and the City Administration of Derventa.

During the introductory session, participants emphasized that wine tourism development cannot be viewed solely through individual local communities. Each winery and each destination represents a part of the broader wine tourism potential of Republika Srpska, making cooperation and joint action essential for creating a recognizable and competitive tourism offer.

The discussion focused on the possibility of establishing a joint wine route across northern Republika Srpska, connecting wineries, promoting and presenting the region’s wine offer, and linking wine tourism with rural tourism, gastronomy and other tourism experiences.

Participants stressed that individual wineries and local communities can make significant progress on their own, but that a coordinated approach would open the door to larger projects, stronger promotion and the creation of a recognizable tourism product covering a wider area.

Representatives of the participating wineries agreed that discussions should continue and that the next steps should be jointly defined.

A new meeting is planned for November, when representatives of local tourism organizations from the areas where the participating wineries are located are also expected to join the initiative.

The main goal of the next meeting will be to launch a more concrete joint initiative to establish a wine route in northern Republika Srpska and explore models for connecting wineries and tourism organizations into a unified tourism offer.

In the coming period, participants will also consider possibilities for joint promotion, the creation of a tourism map of wine destinations and other activities aimed at increasing the visibility and accessibility of the region’s wine offer to visitors.

The roundtable in Derventa therefore represents a first step towards broader cooperation between winemakers and the tourism sector, with the aim of bringing existing resources together and developing them into a distinctive tourism product.

Derventa is ready to serve as the place where the initiative begins, but its ultimate goal is to become a joint story involving wineries, tourism organizations and local communities across northern Republika Srpska.
