Farms in Republika Srpska that are part of the certified organic production system used a total of 1,999 hectares of agricultural land during 2025.

The largest share of certified land, 79.2 percent or 1,584 hectares, consisted of pastures and meadows, while arable land accounted for 16.9 percent, or 337 hectares.

Permanent crops covered the remaining 3.9 percent, or 78 hectares, according to data from the Republic Institute of Statistics of Republika Srpska.

Livestock numbers

As of December 1, 2025, a total of 6,887 sheep were raised within the organic production system, representing a sharp increase of 93.6 percent compared to the previous year.

The data also showed 2,614 cattle, which is 29.8 percent more than in 2024, while the number of goats reached 1,139 head, marking a 9.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Data published for the first time

The Republic Institute of Statistics of Republika Srpska recently published its first-ever report on organic production. The data were obtained through the “Annual Survey of Agricultural Holdings – Organic Production, 2025,” conducted by the institute during December 2025.

The survey covered registered family farms located across Republika Srpska, as well as all legal entities and entrepreneurs engaged in this type of agricultural activity.
