DUNJA HERCEGOVAČKA GOLD AGAIN: DANILO ŠKERO BEST AMONG 220 PRODUCERS FROM 14 COUNTRIES

Danilo Škero, producer of the renowned Trebinje brandy and liqueur “Dunja hercegovačka”, achieved outstanding success at a recent competition in Sarajevo. Last week, he won a total of six medals in different categories, confirming the high quality of his products on the international stage.

Six Medals Among 456 Entries

At the competition, his quince liqueur won first place, marasca cherry liqueur received a gold medal, and cherry brandy also earned a gold. In the quince brandy category, Škero’s entries took first, second, and fourth place.

In total, Škero won six awards out of 456 samples submitted by 220 producers from 14 countries, highlighting his exceptional craftsmanship and dedication.

A Total of 72 Medals and Promoting Herzegovina

This success is not an isolated case—Škero has won gold at numerous competitions from Vardar to Triglav, and so far, he has collected 72 gold medals.

"For me, promoting my city is always more important than personal success. And not just Trebinje, but all of Herzegovina. That’s why my brandy is called 'Dunja hercegovačka'," Škero told SeeSrpska.

Children’s Festival and Quince Harvest

For years, Škero has organized the children’s festival “Dunjo moja sa ormara”, which brings together preschool children from across Herzegovina. The festival symbolically marks the start of the quince harvest, and this year, children from Mostar are expected to participate as well.

At the festival, children compete in performances, recitations, and creative activities, combining education and fun in the quince orchards.

Strong Spirits Festival Across Herzegovina

In addition to the children’s festival, Škero organizes the Herzegovinian Strong Spirits Festival, which this year is planned to take place in several towns—Nevesinje, Bileća, Gacko, and Trebinje—with more locations possibly to be added.

"Trebinje, thanks to its geographical location and favorable climate with many sunny days, is ideal for growing quinces. Our tradition and product quality go hand in hand with promoting Herzegovina," Škero emphasized.

Family Estate in Pridvorci

Danilo Škero’s estate is located in Pridvorci near Trebinje, where high-quality brandies and liqueurs are produced using traditional recipes. His products have been recognized across the region and awarded at numerous competitions from Vardar to Triglav.
