STARLINK GETS APPROVAL IN BiH: SATELLITE INTERNET COMING WITHIN WEEKS

Starlink has received approval to provide internet access services in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with SpaceX’s satellite internet expected to become available to users within the next few weeks.

The arrival of Starlink was announced following talks in Sarajevo between Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Minister of Communications and Transport Edin Forto and Rebecca Slick Hunter, Starlink’s Director of Global Licensing and Market Activation.

SERVICE TO BE AVAILABLE ACROSS BiH

According to the announcement, Starlink services could become available within the next several weeks, bringing a new internet option to users across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The technology could be particularly important for people living in rural, mountainous and other hard-to-reach areas where traditional infrastructure cannot provide reliable high-speed internet access.

Starlink provides broadband internet through a network of satellites in low Earth orbit, without requiring conventional cable infrastructure to reach individual users.

A NEW OPTION FOR RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES

The arrival of Starlink will also introduce a new provider to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s internet market, giving residents and businesses an additional connectivity option.

Satellite internet could also have applications in education, healthcare and business, as well as communications during emergencies and in areas where conventional networks are unavailable or unreliable.

Starlink previously registered the company “Starlink BH” in Bosnia and Herzegovina and initiated the regulatory procedure required to provide internet access services.

With the launch of the service, Bosnia and Herzegovina will join the growing number of countries connected to SpaceX’s global Starlink satellite network.
