INDIAN SUMMER IS COMING: SUNNY DAYS AND WARMER TEMPERATURES EXPECTED

The end of September and beginning of October 2026 are expected to bring plenty of sunshine and a gradual rise in temperatures, with no return of extreme summer heat, according to forecasts published by the weather page “Bhmeteo”.

Meteorologists are also dismissing claims about an upcoming “heat dome” or “heatwave”, predicting instead a period of pleasant early autumn weather across the region.

SUNNY AND PLEASANT AUTUMN DAYS AHEAD

According to the forecast, the coming period will be marked by fresh and increasingly foggy mornings, followed by pleasantly warm days.

Daytime temperatures are expected to range mostly between 18 and 25°C, while temperatures in the south could reach 29°C.

“The coming days will bring ideal autumn weather, with fresh, cool and increasingly foggy mornings and pleasantly warm days,” Bhmeteo said in its forecast.

The main concern remains the lack of rainfall, as another relatively long dry period of at least seven days is expected.

Meteorologists are therefore advising residents to make use of the favourable weather conditions for autumn agricultural and outdoor work.

MIHOLJSKO LJETO EXPECTED IN EARLY OCTOBER

Meteorologists in Serbia are also forecasting a period of what is traditionally known as “Miholjsko ljeto”, or Indian summer, in the coming days.

Meteorologist Nedeljko Todorović has also presented his forecast for the end of September and the first half of October, predicting temperatures several degrees above average towards the end of September.

“The last few days of September will see temperatures rising, reaching several degrees above average. The average maximum temperature at the end of September is around 21 to 22°C. This year, we will have a relatively warm end of September and beginning of October,” Todorović said.

He added that periods of cloudier weather and rainfall are expected later in October, although the total amount of precipitation could remain below average.

THE MOST LIKELY PERIOD: OCTOBER 5 TO 12

Todorović also identified the period when the traditional Miholjsko ljeto could occur

According to him, the warm days at the end of September and beginning of October could be described as an early Indian summer, while the period most commonly associated with Miholjsko ljeto is around October 7 or 8.

More broadly, he singled out the period between October 5 and 12, when several spells of warm and stable weather lasting between three and five days could occur.

“Whether it will be exactly like that is uncertain, but there is a high probability that there will be several periods lasting three to five days with this type of weather,” Todorović said.

For residents and visitors across the region, the forecast points to a pleasant transition into autumn, with sunny days, comfortable temperatures and favourable conditions for spending time outdoors.
