The 100th anniversary of the birth of national heroine Lepa Radić was solemnly commemorated with a series of remembrance events honoring her life and sacrifice. On this occasion, representatives of the Central Cultural and Artistic Society (KUD) “Lepa Radić” from Gradiška and the Association “Potkozarje Through Time” laid flowers in front of Lepa Radić’s bust in the Memorial Park in Gradiška, as well as at the bust located in the memorial complex in Bistrica. They also visited the memorial complex currently under construction in Gašnica, dedicated to this renowned heroine.
In
addition to addresses by representatives of the two associations, poetry
dedicated to Lepa Radić was recited in Gradiška by Dušanka Majstorac.
Representatives of the Association “Bokovi” were also present at the ceremony.
Following
the official protocol in Gradiška, members of the Central KUD traveled to
Bosanska Krupa, where they laid flowers at the site of Lepa Radić’s death.
Lepa Radić was born on December 19, 1925, in Gašnica near Gradiška, and was executed in 1943 in Bosanska Krupa.
She was proclaimed a National Hero of Yugoslavia on
December 20, 1951, and remains one of the most recognizable historical figures
of Gradiška and its surrounding area.
The Central Gradiška KUD, which proudly bears her name, will mark this significant jubilee with a commemorative concert titled “In Heroic Steps.” The concert will take place on December 28 at the Gradiška Cultural Center.
