The Croatian island of Hvar recently hosted the Spartan Race World Championship 2024. Members of the Fitness Studio Bellus 8: The Bear’s Cave from Prijedor, led by coach Sara Božić, participated in the competition.
Prijedor was successfully represented by Slavica Lajić, Slavica Drinčić, Nataša Tomić, Aleksandra Banović, and Darija Đurica. The competitors ran in both competitive and open categories. The event included the Beast race (25 km), Super (15 km), and Sprint (7 km).
Slavica Lajić placed among the top 10 women in her age category in the Sprint World Championship race, which is a remarkable achievement. Sara Božić achieved an impressive fourth place in her age category in the Beast race. Božić also brought the Trifecta medal to Prijedor, which signifies completing all three races over two days.
"The competition on Hvar was on a much higher level than what we've encountered before. From the organization, preparations, to the financial means required to apply and participate. I am incredibly proud of the entire team who represented both our fitness studio and the city of Prijedor in the best way possible," said Božić.
Božić is also the women's champion of the OCR Urban Rush race in Prijedor 2024, which was held for the first time this past summer in the city.
The Spartan Race is one of the toughest obstacle races in the world. The number of obstacles varies depending on the race length. Some of the toughest challenges include hanging obstacles, which are difficult for any participant. Many obstacles also involve carrying various types of loads.
In addition to running, the Spartan Race requires strength, both physical and mental.
