SERBIAN COMMUNITY BUILDS MEMORIAL CHURCH TO HONOR VICTIMS OF "CORRIDOR" OPERATION

Aware of the significance of the military operation "Corridor" in the fight for Republika Srpska, the people of the Trebava region and its surroundings, in 1992, erected a memorial church at Duga Njiva, approximately 20 kilometers from Modriča.

The temple was built in memory of all Serbian victims from the Battle of Kosovo to the last war (1992‒1995) and dedicated to Saint Emperor Lazar.
The decision to construct it was made at the traditional Serbian gathering "Assembly at Duga Njiva," held since 1919 on the feast of Ognjena Marija. Adjacent to this temple, on Mount Trebava, is the male monastery of Duga Njiva, belonging to the Zvornik-Tuzla Eparchy.
The restoration of the monastery began in 2007, right next to the Lazarica church, on the site of the destroyed monastery dating back to the 13th century and endowed by King Dragutin. The monastery is dedicated to Saint Prophet Elijah and is built in the Georgian style, a rarity in our region.
