SEMBERIJA HOUSE TO OPEN IN THE HEART OF BIJELJINA

Bijeljina is set to gain a new venue dedicated to the authentic products and flavors of Semberija. Semberija House will be established in a commercial space at King Peter I Karađorđević Square, formerly occupied by Om Café.

Following a decision by the Bijeljina City Assembly to grant the premises to the Bijeljina City Tourist Organization for use, the conditions have been created to begin the adaptation and renovation process.

A SHOWCASE FOR AUTHENTIC PRODUCTS FROM SEMBERIJA

Semberija House is envisioned as a place where visitors, particularly tourists and other guests to Bijeljina, will be able to discover and purchase locally made products of verified quality from the Semberija region.

The first step will be the preparation of the project documentation, followed by a financial estimate to determine the funds required for the renovation.

The first phase is planned to include the reconstruction of the roof and the former Om Café premises, while preserving the building’s authentic appearance. Once the necessary preparations are completed, a procedure will be launched to select a contractor.

A NEW STOP FOR VISITORS TO BIJELJINA

Thanks to its location in the very heart of Bijeljina, Semberija House is expected to become an important part of the city’s tourism offer.

Jasna Abdulahagić, Director of the Bijeljina City Tourist Organization, noted that the city has recorded continuous growth in tourist arrivals and overnight stays over the past three years.

The goal is for organized visits to Bijeljina to include Semberija House as a place where guests can discover authentic local products in one central location.

PLANS FOR A NEW ARTISTIC QUARTER

The plans extend beyond Semberija House. Further improvements are also planned for the area around the city’s main square, including the renovation of the popular Umbrella Street and the replacement of its worn-out umbrellas.

Depending on available funding, the wider area is also expected to undergo further improvements, including the Water Tower building, for which a conceptual design has already been prepared.

According to Bijeljina Mayor Ljubiša Petrović, the long-term goal is to transform this part of the city into a distinctive and colorful artistic quarter, while also modernizing the nearby shopping and crafts center.
