NEW KAYAK COURSE OPENS ON THE VRBAS RIVER IN BANJALUKA

A new kayak course has opened on the Vrbas River in central Banjaluka, providing better conditions for athletes, water sports enthusiasts and recreational paddlers.

According to the City Administration, the course was built in accordance with International Canoe Federation standards. The first phase includes rapids and supporting facilities, while spectator stands are planned for a later stage.

Banjaluka Mayor Draško Stanivuković said that although the Vrbas Canyon already offers excellent conditions for kayaking and hosts major international competitions, the city lacked a suitable training area in the centre, particularly for beginners.

VRBAS AS A HUB FOR SPORTS AND RECREATION

The City Administration has also announced further development along the Vrbas riverbanks, including new sports and recreational facilities and improved pedestrian areas.

Kayaker Milica Stanković emphasized that the new course is not intended only for professional athletes, but also for recreational users, and could help bring kayaking closer to a wider audience.

With the opening of the new course, Banjaluka has gained another attractive sports and recreational facility along the Vrbas, one of the city’s most recognizable natural landmarks.
