The largest city in the Republic of Srpska has gained a new place for walking, relaxation, recreation and enjoying the Vrbas River.

The new Banja Luka Riverside Promenade, developed along the stretch between the City Bridge and Venecija Bridge, officially opened on September 25. It quickly attracted numerous residents and visitors.

The newly developed section is around 1.5 kilometres long, adding another attractive public space directly alongside the Vrbas.

THE VRBAS IN A NEW LIGHT

The new riverside promenade offers a different perspective of the Vrbas and creates a space that brings together walking, recreation, nature and social life.

Along the promenade, a summer stage and amphitheatre have been built, while areas for relaxation and leisure have been arranged throughout the new section.

The space is designed to appeal to different generations, offering opportunities for everyday walks and recreation as well as cultural and entertainment events.

More than 100 new trees, mainly willows, have been planted along the new section, while a riverbank protection structure has also been constructed.

MORE THAN SIX KILOMETRES ALONG THE VRBAS

With the new section, Banja Luka now has more than six kilometres of developed riverside promenade along the Vrbas, creating an increasingly continuous space for enjoying the river through the city.

For visitors, the promenade offers another way to experience Banja Luka – not only through its squares, the historic Kastel Fortress and city streets, but also through the Vrbas, one of the city's most recognisable natural features.

A walk along the river provides an opportunity to see Banja Luka from a different perspective, combining the urban atmosphere with the natural surroundings of the Vrbas.

A NEW PLACE TO DISCOVER BANJA LUKA

The new riverside promenade is already becoming another part of everyday life in Banja Luka and a new gathering place beside the river.

The promenade, greenery, recreational and relaxation areas, amphitheatre and proximity to the city centre make this part of the Vrbas riverbank an appealing place for residents and an additional destination for visitors.

Combined with the Vrbas, Kastel Fortress and Banja Luka's bridges, the riverside promenade offers yet another way to discover a city whose identity is closely connected with its river.
