Fruit growers can rejoice over this year's peach harvest, as stated by the president of the Fruit Growers Association of Republika Srpska, Dragoja Dojčinović.
"Peaches have thrived under weather conditions like never before. They've yielded a 100% crop, and the quality of the fruit is exceptional," Dojčinović mentioned.
While plums have disappointed in some regions, others have seen a satisfactory yield, he added.
Speaking about apples, Dojčinović noted that despite a smaller yield than anticipated, the year has been quite good overall.
"This is partly due to the damage caused by a supercell storm last year in the areas from Kozarska Dubica, through Gradiška, to Laktaši," Dojčinović explained.
He highlighted that favorable weather conditions, with a good balance of sunny days and rainfall, have favored fruit growers.
"Yesterday's storm didn't cause significant damage to orchards, as hail hit areas without fruit plantations. Some fruit growers in Novi Grad suffered earlier damage, but it's a small number of producers with limited acreage," emphasized Dojčinović.
According to him, fruit growers suffered more significant losses this spring due to high temperatures during the flowering phase.
"As a result, we lost a significant portion of pears. Cherry production was disappointing for many growers, although certain varieties performed well," Dojčinović concluded.
