In response to climate change and the repercussions of global warming, recent months have witnessed intermittent surges in summer and tropical temperatures, set to resurface following a variable start to May.
Long-term forecasts project two tropical waves this month, indicating days in May with temperatures surpassing 30 degrees Celsius.
The onset of May and its first decade have been characterized by passing cloud cover with uneven precipitation in the form of thunderstorms. However, weather models for long-term forecasts suggest that both the quantity and distribution of rainfall will diminish in the latter half of the month compared to the first.
According to the Republic Hydrometeorological Institute, the forthcoming days will bring variable weather conditions but with no significant rainfall. Weekend temperatures will usher in warmer weather, followed by a brief cooling period before the onset of a tropical wave.
The latter half of May is anticipated to be considerably warmer than average, with a projected deficit in rainfall. Following a brief, rapid temperature surge to 30 degrees Celsius and above, a short-lived cooling period is expected from May 18th to 21st, returning temperatures to 20 to 25 degrees Celsius.
