The increasing popularity of electric scooters, bicycles, and Segways is evident on the streets of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Data from the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) confirms that in the first three months of this year alone, these means of transportation have arrived in the country with a total value of 1.47 million BAM.
According to the ITA, the majority of these transportation devices were imported from China, with a value of 1.22 million BAM, while slightly over 110,000 BAM worth of products were imported from Croatia. Electric scooters, bicycles, and Segways from various countries such as Taiwan, Bulgaria, Germany, Turkey, and others are also available on the domestic market.
Last year, according to ITA data, Bosnia and Herzegovina imported electric scooters, bicycles, and Segways worth 7.75 million BAM, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year.
Traders across the country express satisfaction with the increased sales of electric transportation devices, with scooters surpassing expectations. In some stores like "3D BOX," the sale of electric scooters is constant, with prices ranging from 600 to 3,000 BAM.
Although electric bicycles are still less prevalent compared to scooters, traders note a growing interest in them, despite their higher prices ranging from 2,500 to 5,000 BAM.
Service center owners like "SMART" in Banja Luka observe an increasing number of users opting for electric scooters as a cheap and practical alternative to urban traffic and expensive fuel.
"BinBin," a company offering electric scooter rental services, also experiences growing demand for these transportation devices. Last year, they achieved a record revenue of 1.9 million BAM, indicating the increasing popularity of this mode of transportation in the country. Additionally, by introducing new services such as renting electric bicycles, they demonstrate their intention to further expand in the Bosnian market.
