It is precisely because of this that the chestnut forests of Kostajnica are the most significant chestnut complex in Republika Srpska.

The total forest area in this local community amounts to 3,847 hectares.

According to data from the Study of Integrated Rural Development of this municipality, forest vegetation in Kostajnica mainly consists of cultivated chestnut forests, beech, and oak forests.
